ASSESSMENT OVERVIEW
At the Shishya Jigyasa Academy, assessments in the Preschool and Lower Primary years focus on formative methods rather than frequent tests.
Formative Assessments:
- Observation-Based: Teachers observe children's responses and engagement in daily activities, noting their ability to express themselves independently.
- Open-Ended Questioning: Facilitators use open-ended questions to support learning and extend thinking, helping to assess each child's learning quality and required support.
- Collaborative Work: Group activities and projects allow students to apply their learning, showcasing creativity and higher-order thinking. All projects are completed in school.
Summative Assessments:
- Gradual Introduction: Summative assessments begin in Lower Primary, with recaps and reinforcement through discussions, projects, activities, and quizzes.
- Independent Worksheets: Students complete worksheets without adult assistance, allowing assessment of retention and understanding of the teaching effectiveness.
This assessment approach ensures a holistic understanding of each child's development and learning progress.
